Starting on 1 July 2008 Syscob Pty Ltd offered a Dial-Up EDI Service named DUES. This allowed dial-up users the time to transition to the more cost effective email EDI transport, but in the next 12 months all exporters formerly using dial-up had made the transition so Syscob discontinued the DUES service offering as at 30 June 2009.
DUES, was an alternative to the decommissioned Telstra X.400 dial-up service which was shut down as at 1 July 2008 with minimal notice to some subscribers.
Dial-Up EDI Service (DUES) was a service for clients that did not have ADSL (or other broadband) connections at their site, but still needed electronic communications to AQIS, Customs, port operators and shipping companies for exporting their goods.
Also some company polices at the time did not permit any InterNet, or web based, applications to be run on their network, but still required a safe and secure method of contacting all the government (AQIS and Customs) and commercial (1-Stop, DP World and shipping company) export agencies. That was another case where DUES fits their requirements.
The DUES offering is no longer available, nor needed, but is another demonstration of Syscob's commitment to their customers' needs.
